2005 – Siftin’ Thru Ashes /Nugene Records/
Matts debut CD (The Trio, Live), while consisting entirely of covers, was acclaimed for its power, inventive arrangements and virtuoso musicianship. Now with this first studio album Matt shows his colours as a fine songwriter as well as one of the most gifted guitarists on the contemporary Blues scene.
Using the same band line up that performs so powerfully on the live CD, (Jonny Henderson on organ and Evan Jenkins on Drums), Siftin’ Thru Ashes has eight original numbers together with stunning re-interpretations of some classics including The Boxtops’ The Letter (also popularised by Joe Cocker).
Matt Schofield: guitar, vocals
Jonny Henderson: organ, wurlitzer, piano
Evan Jenkins: drums
and on track 11:
Jeff ‘The Funk’ Walker: bass
